Privacy Policy for Website Tags

Website Tags (“the Extension”) helps you add colored description tags to websites and optionally display them on the page. This policy explains what data is handled and how.

1. Data we store

The Extension stores the following information locally in your browser only:

• Website hostnames (domains) you choose to tag
• Tag text and colors you create
• Display preferences (show on page, static vs floating mode)

Data is saved with Chrome’s chrome.storage.local API on your device. It is not uploaded to our servers.

2. Data we do not collect

• No accounts or personal profiles
• No browsing history sync to remote servers
• No analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs
• No sale or sharing of user data with third parties

3. Why permissions are needed

• storage — save tags and preferences on your device
• tabs / activeTab — identify the current site for tagging and badge count
• scripting + host access — show tags on web pages you visit

4. Network requests

The Extension does not send tag data over the network. Opening a domain link from the management page simply navigates your browser to that website.

5. Data retention and deletion

Tags remain until you delete them in the Extension or remove/clear the Extension in Chrome. Uninstalling the Extension removes its locally stored data.

6. Children’s privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect children’s personal information.

7. Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the “Last updated” date on this page.
